The
Governors of St John Fisher School welcome you to this site. We are proud of our school and work with the
Head and wider community to raise standards and also to ensure the well being
of every pupil/person in our school. We are a committed friendly group of people; some of us are
parents of children attending St
John Fisher School, all very keen to achieve the
highest standards within the school.
School
governors have a wide range of responsibilities. They help to raise the
standards of pupil achievement by setting annual targets, and plan the schools
future direction. Governors have responsibility for monitoring the school's
budget. Governors are also accountable for the performance of the school to
parents and the wider community.
As a
Roman Catholic school, the Governors also have a duty to preserve and develop
the catholic nature of the school.
The full governing body meets five times a year. Certain key tasks
provide the focus for our discussions and as a minimum each meeting focuses on
a core topic as follows:-
- Analysis of results
- Setting targets for the year
- Approving the School
Development Plan
- Approving the Annual Budget
- Reviewing school policies
The main governing
body is supported by 2 committees which meet twice a term as follows:
- Resources committee - concerned with
finance, premises and people
- Curriculum Committee -
concerned with the school curriculum and with standards of performance.
All the Governors try
to attend school functions and may also make formal and informal visits during
the school day.
Once a year we hold
an information evening for parents.
We can be contacted
via the school office.
